Lawn Care in Maitland

We mow, edge, and watch the health of your turf on a steady schedule. Blades are set for your grass type, sprinkler heads are spotted before the mower rolls, and every product we apply is chosen and placed with your kids and pets in mind.

What Lawn Care Covers and When It Makes Sense

Lawn care is the routine work that keeps turf dense enough to crowd out weeds and shade its own roots. That means mowing at the correct height, edging hard surfaces, clearing clippings, and checking the grass for early signs of insects, fungus, or water stress.

Height matters more than most people expect. St. Augustine cut below about 3.5 inches loses leaf area, roots shorten, and the thin canopy lets crabgrass and dollarweed move in. Bahia and zoysia have their own ranges, so we set the deck for the grass you actually have rather than one height for every yard.

It is the right call if you want the lawn kept on a schedule without handling sharp equipment, fuel, and chemical products yourself. If the turf is already mostly bare, sod installation may be the better starting point, and we will tell you so.

What Each Visit Includes

Mowing at the right height
Sharpened blades and a deck height matched to your grass. A clean cut seals faster than a torn one, which leaves fewer entry points for fungus.
Edging and string trimming
Crisp edges along driveways, walks, and beds. We trim around trunks by hand so the line never girdles bark on young trees.
Clippings kept off hard surfaces
Clippings are blown back onto the lawn, not into the street. Grass in storm drains feeds algae in nearby lakes, and on wet pavement it is slick underfoot.
Turf health check
We look for yellow patches, chinch bug damage along sunny edges, and the brown rings of large patch fungus, then explain what we see before recommending anything.
Careful product use
Any fertilizer or weed control is labeled for your grass, applied at label rates, and kept out of beds and drains. We tell you how long to keep kids and pets off treated areas.

Signs Your Lawn Needs Regular Care

  • Scalped or uneven patches

Brown stripes after mowing usually mean the deck is too low or the blade is dull. Repeated scalping thins St. Augustine quickly.

  • Weeds filling the gaps

Dollarweed, crabgrass, and sedge take over where turf is thin. Raising the cut and feeding at the right time often fixes more than spraying does.

  • Dry, straw-colored areas that spread

Irregular dead spots near driveways and walks in hot months often point to chinch bugs, not drought. Watering more will not stop them.

  • Overgrowth near hazards

Tall grass hides sprinkler heads, toys, and holes, and it can shelter fire ants and snakes close to where your family walks. A regular cut keeps the ground visible.

What Moves the Price of Lawn Care

Lawn care is priced per visit or per season, based on what we see during a free walk of your yard. You get a written estimate before any work starts, and the price does not change unless you change the scope.

Turf area and layout

Open, rectangular lawns go faster than yards broken up by beds, trees, and narrow side strips that need a push mower and hand trimming.

Visit frequency

Warm-season grass grows hard from spring through the summer rains and slows in winter. Weekly summer visits and fewer winter ones change the season total.

Slopes and access

Steep banks around retention areas or ditches call for different equipment and more care, and gated yards with tight access take extra time.

Add-on treatments

Fertilizing, weed control, and pest treatment are separate line items. Local rules limit nitrogen and phosphorus use in summer, which shapes what and when we apply.

How a Lawn Care Visit Runs

  1. 1

    Walk the yard first

Before any engine starts, we walk the lawn and pick up sticks, stones, and toys that a blade could throw. We note sprinkler heads, low spots, and anything fragile.

  2. 2

    Mow with discharge aimed away

We mow with the chute pointed away from windows, cars, and people. If someone comes outside, the mower stops until they are clear.

  3. 3

    Edge, trim, and clear

Hard edges are cut with guarded edgers, then walks and driveways are blown clean so no clippings or grit are left to slip on.

  4. 4

    Report what we found

You hear what we saw: insect activity, a broken sprinkler head, a fungal ring starting. You decide what to do next, and nothing extra is added without your approval.

Lawn Care Questions

How often should my lawn be mowed?

During the warm, rainy months most St. Augustine and Bahia lawns need cutting every week. In the cooler months growth slows, and every two to three weeks is often enough. We aim never to remove more than a third of the blade at once, since heavier cuts stress the grass.

Are the products you use safe for my kids and dog?

We only use products labeled for residential turf, applied at the rates on the label. We tell you which areas were treated and how long to keep children and pets off them, usually until the product has dried or been watered in. Many visits need no product at all.

Do you bag the clippings?

Usually not. Short clippings left on the lawn break down and return nitrogen to the soil. We bag only when the grass got too tall or fungus is active, because clumped or infected clippings can smother or spread the problem.

Why is my lawn yellow even though I water a lot?

Overwatering is a common cause. Saturated sandy soil washes nutrients past the roots and invites fungus. Insects and iron deficiency can also yellow turf. We will look before guessing, and if the sprinkler schedule or coverage is the issue, our irrigation service can adjust it.

Will you damage my sprinkler heads?

We locate heads before mowing and keep wheels and blades clear of them. If a head is set too high or already broken, we point it out so it can be fixed rather than run over again.
